We stay here for a couple of days to visit Aleppo and the area around it. We first visit the citadel in the centre of the city. It is built on a hill and the hillsides have been paved in a steep angle to make it more defensible. There is an arch across the moat to access the fort itself.
Inside the fort if feels like you’re walking on the roofs of the old buildings, as it’s still being excavated and the streets are still covered by debris and sand. There is a wonderful view of Aleppo to all directions. We visit the souk and the centre of town, it seems like a less modern town than Damascus and feels more oriental.
