to Cambridge

Please note that this text was written by me and my mom in 2021, based on the journal written at the time by my sister, who was then 9 years old.

I fell asleep yesterday while solving cross word puzzles with my dad. We get up early again, have a quick but tasty breakfast and jump on the bikes. We ride on a red road (note from 2021, this refers to the red color of the road on the map, indicating that it’s a national road). After a while, my mom asks if it’s far, my dad says about 15 km and we didn’t like it because it’s a dangerous road. We do the 15 km with dislike.

Right before Mildenhall we take a smaller road and had lunch. Here the villages are far apart: Freckenham is so far that we get quite exhausted, though the younger sisters get a push from the parents. Mom promised an ice cream in Fordham: we go their quickly because we really feel like having that ice cream. The villages are closer together: only 5 km. Burwell, Swaffham Prior, Swaffham Bulbeck and Stow Cum Quy, then we went under the highway and entered Cambridge.

The youth hostel was full but we find a B&B. After dinner it’s dark and we go straight to bed: we did 65 km today but I’m not that tired.
